Production of Insulated Glass Units

Insulated glass units are produced of float glass.

1. The cutting of glass. Modern cutting tables - is highly mechanized devices, in which the movement of the tool is controlled by a computer program, given by the operator from the keyboard. Tables have a special program for cutting optimization that reduces waste to 5% or less. 2. Glass cleaning with a distilled water in the washing machine. Washing windows with "soft power saving" I-coating should be done only by specially designed brushes with a certain stiffness of bristles. It’s not recommended a manual cleaning (wiping) of the glass, especially with the use of detergents.

3. Insulating glass spacer blanks are joined at the corners with steel or plastic corners, and then on his face surface layer width of about 3-4 mm extruded at a temperature of 120-140 °C an elastomeric sealant. The quality of this layer have increased requirements. It should be smooth, without breaks, with a minimum width of 3 mm, particularly in corner areas and joints. Additionally, the corners are applied with sealant along connective gap. For small volumes, or repair, which is an exceptional case, the primary sealing glass can be operated manually. In this case, the sealing layer is applied as a thin, self-adhesive butyl tape.

4. The first stage of building glass unit (pre-assembly): glass and the spacer are joined and coated with a first layer of sealant. After assembling the color butyl cord around the perimeter must be pure black. If the primary sealing glass is carried out manually, the work should be performed only in special gloves. If the surface of the cord and glass have a whitish, it is said that the loss butyl cord touched with bare hands or a glass surface was not sufficiently cleaned. After pre-assembly, glass goes to press, which squeezes it until it locks.

5. A curing sealant is applied. For the second sealing layer applied polysulfide, polyurethane or silicone sealants. The main purpose of the second sealing layer is to keep the geometry of glass unit.
